train station' or 'Gare de l'Est' is one of the oldest in the city, with part of
the existing building dating from the middle of the 19th century. It was built
to provide an arrival point for trains from Strasbourg and the east of the
country and indeed was originally called 'Strasbourg station'.
To get to Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) Airport take the short walk (500mtrs) to Paris Gare de Nord Train Station where you can catch the RER train line B3 direct to the airport.
You can take the metro (line 4) to Gare du Nord but will be longer than walking.
Gare de l'Est to Orly Airport
Take the short walk to Paris Gare de Nord Train Station where you can catch the RER train lineB2 or B4 to 'Denfert Rochereau' from where you can catch the
Orlybus direct to
Paris Orly Airport or continue onto 'Antony' station (B4 only) and catch the Orlyval train to the airport. Alternatively take the metro line 4 in direction of Port de Orleans to 'Denfert Rochereau' then take Orlybus.
